Ahh… the great world of gathering information through active listening! This assignment required that I listen or interact with a meet-up or lecture with others. I was not able to involve myself with anyone else. But, I was able to find a link to a pre-recorded lecture taught by Ben Miller and Co-host Cardel Garcia. The group is called Onward, by Fundrise. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LRKNzhVEvtk&t=26s This was a one hour explanation of Technology advancement patterns. I thought this was interesting because patterns mean they will be reoccurring and I do not see how much more there can be. Technology is so advanced that it software and equipment has been able to capture a thought and the computer causes the body to respond to it. What’s left?
During my active listening session, I was able to gather that this man was surely saying he was not about money or economic advice; but, it does appear to be advice after understanding why one would notice patterns in technology advancements. The lecture explains five terms that describe the patterns. The terms are: technology waves, technology bridges, Democratization, centralization/ decentralization , and 3x multiple.
These concepts are used to help a person determine how and if the economy will be affected in a big way or have minimal impact. This is why as a person that considers stakes and balances person, I feel the patterns are tools to evaluate the value of an advance in technology.
This topic does not have a continuing session to discuss, so; I am compelled to do independent studies or research to find out if these techniques of thinking are viable.
The most interesting concept is centralizing and decentralizing, because this means in the pattern, the technology is brought to the human through software development. For example; using the internet to book hotels , websites and bed and breakfast, software that provide more options for a user for a broader audience. I feel after so many types of software for one business there should be a ceiling. But in this world, who knows who will try to rewind time and make software seem less useful until they need it or until it can benefit a specific crowd.
