Graphic Design Principles

This website displays most of the Graphic design principles. I feel this website, https://www.mountvernon.org/the-estate-gardens has a standard design. I do not like the place so the design is not very interesting. I see symmetry/order, Proximity. Common fate, and Similarity. The website is providing detail of a region of the world in the North East,United States of America. So, I feel the style is meant to be uniform and politically correct. The site provides details about George Washington’s Mount Vernon. The most noticeable design is symmetry I notice this in every margin, on the option bar, to make the design the more interesting I feel the font could be embellished for exciting activities and for active events.

The site also, shows Proximity, every word is spaced and positioned an equal length apart. I do not like the way the information seems bunched up at the top of the page. There is no specific feature that pulls my attention to. I do feel the website does communicate the message. I feel the website provides the verbiage for links to the details needed to used the website effectively.

Then the web shows, Common fate, with the links in the top right corner having yellow lines indicating links that would contain details regarding the said title. The links that lead to different places could have had some of the details that are providing historical references on the sub-page version on the home page. Using more of the topography with the page set up would of been better looking at each heading to find the piece of the site that is interesting to the reader is ok but using a picture  as a link would have been helpful as well using the Same size font was also noticed.

The website Proximity and similarity is also great. Most of the page shows a phrase, or a word that will provided a drop down to make the information visible on the home page that is ok but it appears to be over whelming if a person is looking to read about one event or attraction on the website.

The website does display Hierarchy, in the titles on all the link landing page. I am intrigued by this website being so detailed for people. I know this is a website for a historical Monument. I would not want to go to this location based on the images, I would like to have a virtual tour attached to the site this would help my imagination. I felt good about a page with a color scheme that felt continuous as well.
